Signature talks

Five talks. One thesis.

Each works as a keynote, a workshop framing, or a podcast conversation spine.

01

The Unit of Measure: Why Human Movement Still Has No Standard

Every scientific field advances the moment it agrees on how to measure. Movement never got that moment. What changes across research, care, and sport once movement can be scored the way temperature or blood pressure can.

Takeaway  A framework for judging any movement-assessment method against a real measurement standard.

02

Assessment Is the Compass

The NMSK field pours its time into intervention and almost none into assessment. This talk reframes assessment as the driver of the entire care pathway and of what the patient can see about their own progress.

Takeaway  The highest-leverage upgrade in a clinic is usually upstream of treatment.

03

The Transverse Plane Problem

The transverse plane is the number-one plane of human compensation, and the one plane no wall-mounted camera can capture. Reading all three planes at once turns a biomechanical screen into a neurological one. The foundation of the NeuroPlanar Method.

Takeaway  Why single-plane data misses the compensation patterns that matter most.

04

Augment, Don't Replace: AI and the Future of the Clinician

When the MRI arrived, clinicians faced a choice about a new imaging paradigm. Markerless motion capture and clinical AI present the same one. The human element of care is irreplaceable; AI's role is to deepen the clinician's read.

Takeaway  A clear line between augmentation and displacement, and why the distinction is strategic.

05

Baselines, Concussion, and Return-to-Play

Sport and athletic-training audiences

Objective baselines change the highest-stakes decisions in sport. Functional and balance baselines, what happens to them after concussion, and why return-to-play judgments demand more than a clinician's read on the day. Presented on concussion management at the NFL Combine.

Takeaway  A case for baseline screening as standard practice across a team or community.

"We are in the midst of one of the greatest paradigm shifts in human movement and rehabilitation — an evolution to objective and efficient 3D analysis."

About

From goniometer to a standard of measure

The idea began in Dr. Comeau's final year of chiropractic training. Handed a goniometer, a protractor-style tool essentially unchanged for centuries, he was told this was how clinicians would measure whether a patient was improving. When he asked how to assess complex, three-dimensional movement, the answer was that you eyeball it. His instructor put the accuracy of even a well-trained eye at roughly one-third.

He founded Kinetisense in 2015 to close that gap. The platform captures three planes of motion from a single camera in seconds, analysis that once required a million-dollar university lab. It is used in more than 25 countries across clinical rehabilitation, sports performance, senior care, workplace wellness, and tactical settings.

His thesis is that assessment, not intervention, is the clinician's compass, and that AI belongs in the clinic as expert augmentation, never as a replacement for human care.

In his words

"Two-dimensional assessment is really only one-dimensional. You are getting one plane at a time."

"It doesn't matter if you are the best interventionist in the world. Without a compass, you cannot confirm the direction you are moving."

"This is the same paradigm shift clinicians faced when the MRI arrived alongside the X-ray."

"AI will not replace the human element of care. It will augment the clinician who chooses to use it."
